President's Message

Ir Alfred Leung
President
2025 Session
As we step into the new session of 2025, I am thrilled to welcome our new council members. My heartfelt thanks go to those who served previously, laying the groundwork for our continued success. Your dedication has established a strong foundation and culture, supported by the structure set forth by former presidents.
We are witnessing significant changes in transportation infrastructure, driven by innovative technologies poised to revolutionize traffic and transportation management. The application of 5G, big data, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced sensors will enhance our central control systems, creating more efficient and intelligent solutions. This era of transformation presents new opportunities for young engineers and professionals. In addition to traditional roles in civil and traffic engineering, there will be a growing need for expertise in new areas. We must engage professionals from diverse fields to address the complex challenges ahead.
We remain committed to collaborating with other professional institutions for the benefit of our members. Our efforts will include organizing site visits to Mainland China and other countries, fostering cross-border knowledge exchange and professional growth. Additionally, we will offer workshops and training sessions on innovation and technologies, NEC contracts, and contract administration, providing our members with essential skills to excel in modern project management.
To encourage greater involvement from our council members, we will be reorganizing our committees. This initiative aims to foster active participation and contributions from all members, ensuring a dynamic and engaged council.
In January, we conducted a strategy day to chart our path forward. Based on the outcomes of this session, we will develop a comprehensive plan to guide our initiatives and activities throughout the year. This will ensure that we remain focused on our goals and responsive to the evolving needs of our members.
To all aspiring and seasoned professionals in the field of transportation infrastructure, I invite you to join HKIHT. By becoming a member, you will gain access to a wealth of knowledge, networking opportunities, and professional development resources. Our diverse community is driven by innovation, and we are always looking for passionate individuals who are eager to contribute to the future of transportation.
I am excited to announce that our international conference will be held from June 12-14, 2025. This event will serve as a platform for global experts to share insights and advancements in transportation infrastructure.
Thank you for your continued support and dedication to HKIHT. Together, we will navigate the future of transportation infrastructure with innovation and collaboration.
Sincerely,
Alfred Leung
President, HKIHT
